Trish mentioned that there is a push by leadership to move people to Microsoft Teams for videoconferencing, and there is a bulk request form to get people set up. MS Teams is integrated with MS Office 365, which could interfere with MS Access 2010, which we use to run [[CCMDB.accdb]] and any of our other programs (newer versions are not fully backward compatible).
Microsoft Teams is the videoconferencing software used by Shared Health.

I called the helpdesk 2020-04-23 to find out how this would work.
The MS Teams app can be downloaded to our laptops, and clicking on the "join meeting" link in any invite to a Teams meeting should start this. If you run into problems, talk to Tina or Herman rather than the [[Helpdesk]], since they will want to follow the standard solution that would involve the Office upgrade we don't want (see [[Microsoft Office version]] for details).
The request for MS Teams would result in Digital Health making available the Office 365 install in the Windows Software Centre on a user’s PC. Office 365 can have MS Access, but it would be a different version from what we are using and it would not be included in the eHealth standard install. The newer version also might not work for certain things (it might be OK for whiteboard, but almost definitely would cause problems for some of the Access programs used by CCMDB).

To make sure nothing breaks, we would need to coordinate a time with the local eHealth desktop team to re-install MS Access 2010 right after Office 365 is installed.

Microsoft Teams is the videoconferencing software used by Shared Health.

The MS Teams app can be downloaded to our laptops, and clicking on the "join meeting" link in any invite to a Teams meeting should start this. If you run into problems, talk to Tina or Herman rather than the Helpdesk, since they will want to follow the standard solution that would involve the Office upgrade we don't want (see Microsoft Office version for details).

If you are not part of WRHA Teams you will be listed as a "guest" and someone will have to admit you from the "lobby" to the meeting. If that doesn't happen, call the organizer on the phone to remind them. If you consistently show up as "guest" at internal meetings and need to be admitted, contact the service desk and ask them to fix the teams setup on your laptop.

Provisioning MS Teams

Users need to have Teams provisioned to them to be able to join meetings without being admitted from the lobby individually as guests, and to prevent the splash screen in #App start and error when starting the computer.

App start and error when starting the computer

Whenever Teams starts on your laptop you will get a splash screen that says "You are missing out! Ask your admin to enable Microsoft Teams for Winnipeg Regional Health Authority" and "Sign up for Teams" button.

Disable app start on boot

You can go into the settings and turn off "Auto-start application" so the app will only open once you click on a link in a meeting. That will get rid of the big splash screen every time you boot your laptop.
