Infection of the bladder. If not being actively treated with antibiotics then do not code it.
* If a patient has a positive urine culture ,but not being treated with antibiotics, but is being followed. The pt. is asymptomatic /or is too confused/dementia to tell. Do you want us to code the cystitis.?
** If they do not receive antibiotics, they are not treated; therefore I do not code the cystitus. --CMarks 15:15, 22 February 2010 (CST)
***I agree, I never code it if it isn't being treated.
** Where does the not-coding idea originate from? Is this something Trish has instructed? It certainly doesn't say so in this article, and it does not seem to be in line with the General Diagnosis Coding Guidelines. Can anyone remember the history of why this might be coded only if treated? Ttenbergen 10:42, 24 February 2010 (CST)
