We used to review autopsy reports for deceased patients. Initially the existing diagnoses were updated with findings from the autopsy report, and later findings from the autopsy report were collected in empty admit or acquired slots and marked as subcode "50".

The Autopsy field was used in TMSX to store whether a deceased patient had an autopsy. At the collection end this was actually coded as part of the Survive / Expired to prevent the unfortunate combination survive - autopsy. Collection ceased for good in the fall 2010
