*HSC collectors are still using Webmail at work to get to their email. This is what Pat and Deb L said. --TOstryzniuk 17:18, 9 November 2010 (CST)--TOstryzniuk 14:14, 9 June 2011 (CDT)
To find out which version you use, check to top of the window you read your email in. If it says "Internet Explorer" or "Firefox" then you are still using webmail. In this case you should contact [[]] to find out how to start using the locally installed Outlook.
** HSC: are you still using Webmail at work now? Regular Outlook should work on any of your laptops while you are connected to the network. Please let me know if you are still using WebAcces.

***** I am using the same as Gail web access outlook on my laptop and computer. Are we suppossed to be using regular outlook? What is regular outlook?--PStein 15:16, 13 July 2011 (CDT)
****** Regular Outlook is a software installed on your laptop, Webmail is basically a web site. Regular Outlook has better functionality, for example with regard to being able to expand mailing lists. Also, it should allow you to write emails while off-line, and it should then send them when it is back on the network. To try regular Outlook on your laptop, go to Start Menu --> Programs --> Microsoft Office --> Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. The program should open and your account should open in it automatically. If that doesn't work, the helpdesk would be able to help you. Ttenbergen 16:32, 13 July 2011 (CDT)

We have mailing lists for all programs and locations in the Outlook Global Address Book. The names follow the convention DC_<hosp>_<program>, e.g. DC Vic Med.

 • there are 12 contact groups for our program.
 • DC CC - contains all the members of the ICU collection group in the city.
 • DC MED - contains all the members of the Medicine collection group in the city.

Viewing members of an Outlook Mailing List

In Outlook

If you are using MS Outlook, to look into a DC contact group to see "who" is a member of the group:

 1. Open an email
 2. in the "TO" field, type: DC. You will see all the DC contact groups that we have.
 3. click your mouse "once" on the group you want.
 4. right click your mouse on the contact group and it will open the group allowing you to see who are the members.

In Outlook WebAccess

If you are using Outlook WebAccess, check the wiki to see who works at a location. Trish keeps the wiki pages and the mailing lists consistent.

Sending to a Mailing List

In either Outlook or Outlook WebAccess, to sent to a DC group:

 1. Open an email
 2. in the "TO" field, type: DC. You will see all the DC contact groups that we have
 3. click the group you want to send to (will highlight it)

Outlook Web Access vs Outlook

Data collectors used to use Outlook Web Access, mostly via a desktop shortcut "Webmail". Several years ago a locally installed version of Outlook became available on the laptops. The locally installed version has more solid functionality than webmail, so preferrably everyone should be using this now. To find out which version you use, check to top of the window you read your email in. If it says "Internet Explorer" or "Firefox" then you are still using webmail. In this case you should contact [[]] to find out how to start using the locally installed Outlook.
