"sedated" for this purpose means...

For this purpose, "sedated" will mean ... Template:Discussion

  • What is the definition? we discussed in the office that this probably should not be checked after 1 Valium... email sent to Allan Garland. Ttenbergen 17:46, 2016 September 12 (CDT)
  • This will be highly subjective. Does this mean that we would record the actual GCS in the first 24 hours instead of waiting until the sedation has been discontinued to obtain GCS? Or do we just use this if the patient is on sedation throughout their ICU stay? By sedation, are we talking about antipsychotics, benzodiazipines, and narcotics? Depending on dosage, they all have the potential to affect GCS. Mlagadi 10:51, 2016 September 15 (CDT)

where would you find this information?

Template:Discussion

  • The information regarding patients sedation level is documented in the RASS score on the flow sheets. The amount of drugs administered are found in the MAR as well as the ICU flowsheet. It would be a judgement call to determine whether the amount of drugs given are affecting the GCS score.Mlagadi 10:43, 2016 September 15 (CDT)
