- As from task meeting minutes:
- Falls in hospital should only be coded if they cause an injury, and in that case code the injury, with Mechanism of injury: fall or jump (not necessarily from a height)
- Falls that are a reason for admission, that caused an injury should be coded exactly as above.
- For falls that are a reason for admission that did NOT cause an injury AND the cause was found, code the cause, not the fall(s).
- For falls that are a reason for admission that did NOT cause an injury and the cause was NOT found, code this as a combination of Observation for reason NOS and Mechanism of injury: fall or jump (not necessarily from a height)
