Do you mean Primary Admit Diagnosis? But what if the fall isn't the main reason they are in hospital? Ttenbergen 21:52, 2018 October 15 (CDT) |
, with the associated mechanism of injury being Mechanism of injury: fall or jump (not necessarily from a height) With the exception from Observation after accident/injury if it is used to code the observational care itself, not the suspected injury. So, in regard to a fall in hospital without an injury, use this code only if there was actual additional medical observation that resulted from the fall, e.g. an extra day in hospital.
- Out-of-hospital falls that are a reason for admission, that caused an injury should be coded the same way.
- For out-of-hospital falls that are a reason for admission that did NOT cause an injury code Observation after accident/injury combined with Mechanism of injury: fall or jump (not necessarily from a height).
