LTV is used only for patients that have been on home/institution ventilation either on an LP 3-10 OR WHERE A DECISION HAS BEEN CONFIRMED TO START ON A HOME VENTILATOR ON THE SAME ADMISSION.
LTV is used only for patients that have been on home/institution ventilation (LP3-LP10 ventilator). The "Filter" Variable field is currently only used for tagging those patient that are on long term ventilation (LTV). LTV is used only for patients that have been on home/institution ventilation either on an LP 3-10 OR WHERE A DECISION HAS BEEN CONFIRMED TO START ON A HOME VENTILATOR ON THE SAME ADMISSION.

  • Just a consult to home ventilation is NOT sufficient because some patients are either turned down by the LTV service or they are successfully weaned off of the ventilator.

Legacy Data

1. HSC-CCU Only. Tag started: Sept 25, 2003, stopped 2005.

  • B = CCU patient on B3 only
  • H = CCU patient on H7-CCU only
  • BH = CCU patient on BOTH B3 & H7-CCU during one admission

Purpose was to capture CCU patient location during ICU CCU bed closure and during some renovations.

2. HSC & STB-CCU patients only. Tags used for ICU:

  • CC - intubated/ventilated patient in MICU under care of cardiology service or co-managed with MICU attending
  • CCN - not ventilated but requires inotrope support, IABP or central lines in MICU under the care of cardiology service or co-managed with MICU attending

Patients that co-managed by CCU & MICU attending service at the teaching hospitals. This code applies to coronary care patients who are deemed "too sick" for the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and are managed or co-managed in the Medical ICU because they required one or more of the following:

  • ventilation
  • inotropes
  • central lines
  • IABP

Instruction on adding LTV to PDA dropdown table

  1. Open a patient’s file on your PDA.
  2. Go to Vars etc tab
  3. Click on filter field slot(this is located just below NOTES field) and you will see the drop down list.
  4. Select EDIT POPUP LIST to enter table.
  5. At the bottom of this window you will see the NEW button. Select that and a box will appear with the following: ENTER NEW POPUP VALUE
  6. Type in: LTV (For now, please Don’t put – Long Term Ventilator beside this label, just LTV)

INSTRUCTIONS TO CREATE A "BLANK" PAGE IN THE TABLE FOR FILTER

  1. Open a patient file
  2. Go to the VARS etc. TAB
  3. Tap on the FILTER box field to view the drop down list
  4. Select EDIT POPUP LIST
  5. Select NEW
  6. Use your space bar on your PDA keyboard tap it once so that the cursor in the box moves over one space.
  7. Press OK
  8. Your Filter field should look as follows:
    • a
    • (Blank row so that if you unintentionally selected an item you can remove it.)
    • LTV-Long Term Ventilator
