APACHE II has its own Diagnostic Categories with assigned weights that are used in a formula to predict risk of death (negative coefficient is associated with a good outcome, positive coefficient is associated with a bad outcome).
Our have been mapped to the Apache diagnoses by Dr. Carla Chrusch with some help from Trish in 2003 then Kendiss Olafson with Julie in 2005.
Our statistician has a macro for SAS to automate the code mapping.
APACHE II Diagnostic Categories are included in Annual and Quarterly reports.
