Grace Nursing Home Ward

A nursing home ward (E4) is being set up temporarily at Grace Hospital to host patients that should be discharged to a nursing home but for whom there currently isn't space.

• Collectors will code as discharged to or admit from as: Nursing Home Grace in CCMDB.mdb
• The discharge or admit location will show as NG in CFE

Medicine Var 1 and Var 2

If ADMIT FROM or DISCHARGE TO is Nursing Home Grace, then leave Med Var 1 - Admit-from Ward or Med Var 2 - Discharge-to Ward BLANK.

Opened January 23, 2014 with a projected bed capacity of 12-15. Duration of opening is expected to exceed one and a half years. Unit was designed to reduce the pressure of opening contingency beds on all 3 Medical Units which have been running at numbers exceeding capacity since the beginning of January 2014. "These patients will be considered discharged so far as the database is concerned and they become a new admission if they bounce back." (as per Dr Roberts). Code these patients as discharged to "Nursing Home Grace" (will be available as of Mon 2014-Jan-27), and treat admissions from this ward as new admissions.
