This applies to the APACHE II ARF checkbox only.
- see ARF (Diagnosis) for instructions on coding the DIAGNOSIS of ARF.
To check of the Acute Renal Failure (ARF) checkbox for ICU APACHE, a patient must meet both of the following criteria:
- for 8 hrs consecutively in the first 24 hrs of ICU admission:
- creatinine > 133 mmols and
- urine < 135 cc
- patient does not qualify for comorbid diagnosis Chronic Renal Failure (CRF)
