Lab Collection Process

Note: See Labs for more general info on the labs data.

The Critical Care database counts the laboratory tests listed at S_AllLabs for every patient for their entire LOS in a unit. (E.G. total number of CBC diff done during LOS in unit). A different collection of labs is collected at HSC than elsewhere. Some lab data at HSC is imported directly.

Lab Collection Process

• Make sure you are using the local listing (see " Local Listing" section below).
• For every ICU patient,
  • for every laboratory test on S_AllLabs
    • locate the specific lab,
    • enter the number of times the test was performed
  • if a patient has no labs by the end of their stay:

enter a date and leave zeros under all the labs.

• • • if a culture is taken but the sample was inadequate to produce a result, the culture is still counted under lab counts.

Local Listing

• For LAB items, the PDA can be set to different VIEWING lists.
  • View all LABS (Master PDA lab list)
  • Collect at HSC (subset of Master PDA lab list for HSC only. )
  • Collect at Others (subset of Master PDA lab list for: STB, GRA, CON, OAK, GRA)
