A witnessed arrest patient in ICU must also code for Cooling Protocol-BRR.
For in-hospital witnessed arrests, code as a witnessed arrest (100-2) only if event was witnessed by hospital medical staff, this does not include house keeping, maintenance or visiting family.

Could an out-of-hospital arrest ever be coded as witnessed? Please don't answer in the discussion section, just delete the discussion and update the definition.Ttenbergen 00:05, 5 May 2009 (CDT)
Yes this is the response I got from Laura on this question.
The witnessed cardiac arrest above on the wiki is speaking only of "in Hospital" arrests when it requires hospital staff to witness. In the community, I use anyone as a witness. The only unwitnessed arrests are if no-one is around when the person collapses and no one knows when it occurs and when CPR is delayed because no one could do it.
