ARF (APACHE)

ARF - Definiton for APACHE II

IMPORTANT NOTE: ARF is different than the criteria used to code the DIAGNOSIS of ARF.

To check of the Acute Renal Failure (ARF) checkbox for ICU APACHE, a patient must meet the following criteria:

• both creatinine > 133 mmols and urine < 135 cc for 8 hrs consecutively in the first 24 hrs

and

• patient should not have a comorbid diagnosis of Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) (on chronic outpatient dialysis) prior to the current hospital admission.
