Some diagnoses allow a patient with Previous Location OR/Recovery, others require it.
Problems with this check in Medicine
Template:Potential Change Some patients arrive from OR on Medicine wards and their main reason for admission is not the surgery but, e.g., arrhythmia. Collectors are then entering work-around data such as making pain control the main reason when it is not. We need to modify this check. - On review with Trish we initially thought this might be because both from OR and from Recovery required an ORDx, but I reviewed the queries, and only from OR requires this. Trish was surprised that we would have any patients arriving direct from OR rather than via Recovery. Could collectors who have been using work-arounds for this (eg Shirley, Pat, Steph who reported the problem at meeting) please confirm that these patients are from OR rather than recovery? - no longer seems to be an issue; whatever the procedure this pt had , they came from the OR (or I would not have received the error code) so it must have been a minor procedure that did not require a recovery protocol
Errors Scenarios
- admit-from OR, admit diagnosis 1 is not OR-allowed (query Check_ORDx__from_OR_no_ORDx)
- admit diagnosis 1 is OR-required, admit-from is not (OR or Recovery) (query Check_ORDx__not_from_OR_OrDx)
Template:CCMDB Data Integrity Checks
The table Check_ORDx in CCMDB.mdb contains all diagnoses that allow admit-from OR, and a checkbox for all diagnoses that require admit-from OR.
