Med Var 2 - Discharge-to Ward
Med Var 2 is used track the specific ward a patient was discharged to within the same center. If a patient is discharged to a ward outside your hospital and you know the ward they went to, please code, if not, leave Var 2 blank.
Possible values are listed in the dropdown box.
Data Integrity Checks
Any patient who is discharged to a medicine ward from a medicine ward at the same hospital must have Var 2 entered.
Discussion
- book says "(example of specific location code as shown on page 69)" but that just lists all medicine locations where we collect. --Ttenbergen
- as mentioned in VAR 1 - refers to page 69 (wards we collect on)as an example to follow. STB B5 not 5B is how we want the ward listed. Since we migrated to the PDA and have drop down list of wards, this reference in guide is not needed. Removed. Need a LINK to the s_varoptions table as a reference now.
- are these only used where we collect on the other ward as well? Is that why "center" is used instead of "hospital"? --Ttenbergen
- So, we code whenever we can get the ward, whether they are in the same center or not, right? In that case, the instructions above
should be changed to leave out the "same center" part, as follows: Med Var 2 is used track the specific ward a patient was discharged to. If a patient is discharged to a ward outside your hospital and you know the ward they went to, please code, if not, leave Var 2 blank.
- I don't know if this is an error or bug in the system but if I try and enter in Var 1 or 2 slot the ward of a patient coming from or going to a ward outside my hospital it will not let me send this data in Access. I can only add the specific ward in Var 1 or 2 for transfers within my hospital.TAngell 09:16, 30 March 2009 (CDT)
