*AG REPLY -- We made the decision in CCI to NOT code "how the thing was done" because doing so involved a large and additional workload/layer of knowledge about the procedure. In CCI, the coding of "how it was done" is complex and it's often beyond what was written or apparent in the operative note. Thus, it'll take a lot of work to get it accurately. In addition, the value of "how" added to "what was done" is a bit of diminishing returns. }} | |||

Upper GI scopes should be coded as
- the deepest that was reached of the following
- plus the most invasive of the following that happened
This is according to the gospel of CCI Collection#Related Imaging, Diagnostic and Therapeutic procedures performed at the same time
