In addition to this list there may be further diagnoses in the Category:Diagnoses not coded.

Try ctrl-f on this page to find the diagnosis you are looking for.

Surgeries or procedures not currently coded

  • Epicardial wires placed via mini-thorocotomy for improving contractility in Dilated Cardiomyopathy patients. (use medical reason for procedure ie congestive heart failure or specific arrhythmia)
  • Repair of Patent Ductus Arteriosus and foramen ovale.
  • ERCP (use Any GI scope)
  • some Stent insertions for which we don't have a specific code
  • Angio for embolization (renal and GI)
  • esophagectomy
  • removal of PD catheter
  • ileostomy
  • ileal conduit
  • Bentall procedure - use AVR Repair/Replace or TAA Repair)
  • TAVI (trans catheter aortic valve implantation) (done in cath lab) - use AVR Repair/Replace
  • TEVAR (trans endovascular aneurysm repair) - use regular aneurysm repair (AAA Repair or TAA Repair)
  • Bilroth I &II (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billroth_II) - Use bowel resection or other specific interventions done in surgical procedure).)
  • Roux-en-Y procedure (a type of gastric bypass surgery)USE post-op GI other abd procedures other gi 794-90
  • lumbar punctures
  • lumbar drains

Medical Diagnoses not currently coded

    • Some suggested options given for coding; some items have no suggestion as we are not currently interested in coding them at this time.
  • Perforated Duodenal Ulcer ( use perforated bowel)
  • Mallory Weiss Tear (use other UGIB)
  • Shock Liver (use non-etoh liver disease -ischemic)
  • New diagnosis of diabetes mellitus(not coded)
  • Coronary artery stent thrombosis or coronary artery thrombosis (can use Art/Ven Embolus/Thrombus or thrombus-other(can't find that DX, what is it actually called? Ttenbergen 10:07, 2014 October 22 (CDT))) Note: coronary artery thrombosis is the usual mechanism for an MI, so if you are coding MI, this covers this. Stent thrombosis is not currently coded.
  • Radiation enteritis (not currently coded)
  • Scabies (use Soft Tissue Infection (includes Cellulitis), OTHER-Parasite)
  • Hepatopulmonary syndrome - use each individual problem eg
  • Depression, bipolar and other psychiatric diagnosis (except schizophrenia & psychosis) - do not code
  • Distributive shock 2nd to surgery, drugs, inflammation, etc. (use hypotension NYD)
    • Template:Discussion if you mean Hypotension NYD (not due to shock or post op) then the name of the article seems inconsistent with this instruction]]. We were told to use this code even though it makes no sense. It would be nice to have a distributive shock code so we would not have this contradictory coding going on. --LKolesar 10:39, 2014 December 12 (CST)
  • Right ventricular dysfunction (can use Pulmonary Hypertension if this is also true; or use Congestive Heart Failure - other)
  • Type 2 angina or ACS (from oxygen supply/demand issues) eg. anemia, bleeding, stress, etc.) - Could use unstable angina or MI along with the other issue ie.bleeding)
  • Ascites (not currently coded)
  • Cardiorenal syndrome (code each issue separately ie. ARF and Cardiogenic Shock)
  • Mentally challenged (other than Downs Syndrome)(not currently coded)
  • sternal dehisence (not currently coded)
  • Coagulopathy for reasons other than liver failure or transfusion. (use other haematologic problems)
  • Hematuria (not coded)
  • Fibromyalgia (use Other Collagen Vascular Diseases)
  • Mallory weiss tear (use other Upper GI Bleed)
  • polypharmacy
  • Sexual assault (could be put under trauma)
  • Foreign body either as a condition or as removal of. (could be put under trauma)
  • VAD failure and presence of a VAD (if procedure not done on this admission).
  • Comorbid: smoker
