* Leaving the code blank is not allowed. Suggest we don't just allow it since it would allow forgotten entries through. Instead I could add an "other" entry to the list. Please let me know in here if that is how we should proceed. [[User:Ttenbergen|Ttenbergen]] 14:23, 13 October 2011 (CDT)

Med Var 2 is used track the specific ward a patient was discharged to within the same center.

The statistician uses this variable to

  • link profiles from one ward to another when both wards are within the database program
  • detect a likely continuous stay when a pt is discharged from one of our wards to a non-collected ward and then re-admitted to one of our wards from the same non-collected ward.

Possible values are listed in the Var 2 dropdown box in the CCMDB.mdb, which is driven by the S varOptions table.

If the specific ward you are discharging to is not available on this list use "OTH". Please also note down the ward that was missing on this page.

Discussion - Can't enter code for other hospital

"If a patient is discharged to a ward outside your hospital and you know the ward they went to, please code, if not, leave Var 2 blank." Template:Discussion

  • I don't know if this is an error or bug in the system but if I try and enter in Var 1 or 2 slot the ward of a patient coming from or going to a ward outside my hospital it will not let me send this data in Access. I can only add the specific ward in Var 1 or 2 for transfers within my hospital.TAngell 09:16, 30 March 2009 (CDT)
    • As mentioned in Med Var 1 - Admit-from Ward, the CCMDB.mdb by design won't let you enter variables for another hospital. If we want to make these universally enterable, we need to add all wards for all locations into S varOptions. Is that what we want? Ttenbergen 14:34, 2 November 2010 (CDT)

See Category:Variable_codes_1_to_6 for details

Data Integrity Checks

Any medicine patient who is discharged to a ward at the same hospital must have Var 2 entered.
