Nursing practice hours
Nurses are required to keep track and of hours of work on their own for their licensing registration.
- (prior to 2016, the employer had provide nurses with hours of work as a courtesy.)
Nurses will be required to calculate/estimate their hours for the remainder of the year for reporting purposes. An opportunity will exist for the next registration renewal to revise reported worked hours should a nurse not work the estimated hours.
- To determine eligible hours worked and/or paid, employees can review the “Earnings” section of their bi-weekly pay statements.
Please note: Practice hours only (as defined by the registration body) do not include vacation and income protection hours (sick days) or unpaid LOA hrs. For nurses who hold more than one position the total number of hours worked will be recorded and will be the same number in all of the cost centre(s) in which they hold their positions within the WRHA.
Nurses are reminded to submit their registration renewals within the administrative time frames as outlined by the respective College:
- CRNM – December 1 - midnight
- go to: registration-renewal
There are Continuing competence program/Jurisprudence learning module that are required to be completed prior to Registration via Lessonly.
Consistent with Corporate Policy 10.30.100, Verification of Licence for Nurses, “nurses who do not renew their registration within the administrative timelines as determined by the applicable College, may be required to provide proof of registration to the Department Head/designate.”
