  • this would be an orthopedic device
    • only ortho? Then the example below is irrelevant...
      • if this is only for orthopedic devices than the above ICD10 link needs to be removed.
        • This likley was meant for all prosthetic devices, not only orthopedic ones. If it is meant for all, this whole discussion should be removed. If it is only meant for orthopedic ones we need to update it to say so and remove the discussion. Emailed Julie/Trish... Ttenbergen 14:32, 2018 August 13 (CDT)

removal of device

  • Most septic devices do not have codes for removal but if you go to the specific system involved and then code a "surgical other" code, along with the septic prosthetic device code, it is the best you can do.

If you know the surgery you can put it in.

For example, if a prosthetic valve is replaced because of endocarditis, this can easily be done by putting in Endocarditis-Prosthetic Valve and then, the AVR Repair/Replace or MVR Repair/Replace.

Do we use any of our codes for replacement counts?

In the case of orthopedic device code the removal of the device as Orthopedic Procedures-Other (under "other OR") Along with the septic device code, this is sufficient.
