* Admit: Recovery Room
* Previous Location: Recovery Room
* Patient Type (Registry): Surgical
* Admit Type for APACHE II: Elective Surgery
* Previous Service : Urology surgery
* If a patient is admitted to another unit post-op then transferred to your unit, another problem needs to go in the first admit spot. The program doesn't allow this procedure to go first unless they come from the OR. No changes will be made to this process. April 10,2013
* Initial vital signs are taken from the last recorded in recovery.
* The admission diagnosis will be Nephrectomy - Kidney Donor (80101)
* The Nephrologists state the donors always have a renal biopsy on the donor kidney, but the surgeon may not document this.
** ++Discussion++ why is this relevant? Is this something we would code, and if so as what, something in :Category:Biopsy (old)? Ttenbergen 10:16, 2015 August 27 (CDT)
** Yes the donor will have kidney biopsy also included in the diagnosis. (Judy K. 14 sept 2015)

possible change in process
Patient was admitted from OR -> H3 -> D4 after Nephrectomy on same day and was only there a short time. Was unable to enter nephrectomy as admit dx because the patient did not come from an OR. Patient was sent by entering "pain control", but that was because checks would not allow using nephrectomy, not because of evidence in chart.

Apparently we might see more of these because the procedure is now done laparoscopically leading to very short stays on the surgery ward.

I am proposing to remove the requirement for admission from OR from this diagnosis. If there is a problem with that, please let me know.
