== possible change in process ==
Patient was admitted from OR -> H3 -> D4 after Nephrectomy on same day and was only there a short time. Was unable to enter nephrectomy as admit dx because the patient did not come from an OR. Patient was sent by entering "pain control", but that was because checks would not allow using nephrectomy, not because of evidence in chart.

Apparently we might see more of these because the procedure is now done laparoscopically leading to very short stays on the surgery ward.

I am proposing to remove the requirement for admission from OR from this diagnosis. If there is a problem with that, please let me know.

*sent email to confirm this change would be OK... Ttenbergen 17:21, 2013 March 14 (EDT)
*I am not sure that you want to open this can of worms.  There are many patients who come on the first day of surgery from various places (not direct from the OR).  At present we just look for a diagnostic code as reason for admission and then put the surgical procedure as the #2 diagnosis.  If you are going to change this for nephrectomy only that does not make sense.  Either leave it or change this for all diagnosis. I think we need to discuss this in the task group.--[[User:LKolesar|LKolesar]] 07:52, 2013 March 15 (EDT)
**Lets not start changing process in the middle of no where. Laura point is correct. --[[User:TOstryzniuk|Trish Ostryzniuk]] 19:25, 2013 April 9 (EDT)
