LAU

LAU, or Lower Acuity Units, are wards operated at Vic, Seven Oaks and Concordia by family medicine for lower acuity patients. For our collection purposes, these are WRHA non-medicine wards. We don't collect on these units (except for the temporary LAU Collection Project). However, we do code these separately from other wards in Pre-admit Inpatient Institution, Previous Location and Dispo.

We have these in our s_dispo table as

• VGH_LAU
  • VGH wards that are LAU are 4N, 4S (check admitting service) 5N and 5S
  • 4S but this is a combined LAU and Geri Rehab ward so you must check the admitting service
• COH_LAU
  • CGH (COH) wards that are LAU are N1N, N3E and N3W
• SOH_LAU
  • SOGH (SOH) wards that are LAU include all of the 3rd and 5th floor
