Selkirk Mental Health Centre

Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC) is a 252-bed facility that provides specialized inpatient mental health and acquired brain injury treatment and rehabilitation services to residents of Manitoba whose challenging needs cannot be met elsewhere in the provincial health care system.

Allan Garland checked with two physicians that work in area and decided that this should be treated as a Chronic Health Facility.

JALT Would Previous Service be "psych" or "not applicable" for direct admits from Selkirk Mental Health Centre? Thanks! From the info in Previous Service I would think that if the pt was admitted there then Psych, but if an ambulatory pt there then Not Applicable. I still think psych should be the previous service. If the previous service entry is psych-could this be included in the above collection instructions? Thanks! We wouldn't do so for other Chronic Health Facilitys. And, how do we deal with psych units located at hospitals? We have ward designations at HSC, but to other hospitals have these, and how do we deal with those? This is a separate institution from selkirk general hospital.
