Legacy only: Batch Numbers will no longer be used as of 2014-Jul-31
Will be replaced with auto sent date/time stamp instead.
The batch number identifies a group of patients sent by a data collector at the same time, usually weekly.
When collectors send in their TISS forms and diagnostic green sheets each week they include the "batch sent" number. They keep a record of the batch sent, who sent it and on what date (usually on the Sent Report).
Use of the batch number
Data collection
- both paper forms and electronic files are sent in with a batch send number
- most collectors keep copies of each week's Sent Report, which gives last week's batch number
Data Processing
- among other things, the batch number is used during Data Appending Process
- tracking and finding files quickly
- faster Tiss Form Scanning (less organizing of forms)
- quick filing - no reorganizing
Data Analysis
- Are batch numbers stored in MedTMS/TMSX or used once import is complete? Ttenbergen 12:16, 2012 September 6 (CDT)
Special Case - batch number reset for new year
- the first sending day in the new year the data collectors revert the batch sent number to 1.
