Additional Info
- Use this code for a fracture of any vertebrae that is a consequence of being weakened by osteoporosis.
- It includes, but is not limited to, so-called compression or wedge fractures IF due to osteoporosis.
- NOTE that there is a different code Vertebra, nontraumatic fracture NOS that includes vertebral compression/wedge fracture NOT due to osteoporosis.
- Having said that, most vertebral compression/wedge fractures ARE due to osteoporosis.
