- Comorbid Diagnosis of Heart assist device, has one
- paired with reason for LVAD e.g. any of the cardiomyopathy codes, heart failure, NOS
- CCI as appropriate
Background:
- is used temporarily to assist in cardiogenic shock
- is used as a bridge to cardiac transplant
- can be implanted in the left or right ventricle, or in both ventricles
- most commonly used at STB is the Heartmate III
