I question the 15 minutes in our definition above,the CDC defines separate occasions as referring to the act of disinfection of the access site.Also the nurses are not accurate at recording the time of the blood draw accurately.For example blood cultures drawn from different sites or at different times should undergo separate decontamination(skin prep).Both of these are separate occasions.
