In both Access and HanDBase, data is kept either in “L_”- or in “S_”-files or tables.

The “L_”-repositories store the actual data collected on patients. Their structure is the same at all locations, but the content differs. L_ stands for "Local", in contrast to the "S" Files.

Copies of the L_ Files exist at specific file locations on your PDA, on your PC and on the Regional Server.

There are L_ files on your PDA, which is where HanDBase stores its L_ tables. Copies of these files are located on the desktop PC and on the network in the L_Handbase folder, and there in a subdirectory corresponding to the location of the PDA. The L_ files sync into the L_ tables of the same name in the CCMDB.mdb Access program.

Since the “L_”-files contain different data for each PDA, each PDA has its own directory on the regional server. This folder will contain all “L_”-File relevant to the associated PDA, plus two folders called archive and backup. The backup folder is where all old synchronized files are place up to 10 synchronizations back.

The files with ending with “_HDF.PDB” are the HanDBase forms used to access the data in the files of the same name minus the “_HDF”.

The L_ files currently in use are:

In locations where there is more than one PDA per PC, the “L_”-files will be renamed following the template <L-File name>_<HOS>_<WAR>, i.e., the Log file name for H4 at HSC would be L_Log_HSC_H4.PDB.
