Log page not showing automatically after news and backup

From CCMDB Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

When a collector runs News and Backup, if a new CCMDB.accdb is rolled out, the wiki page Log should open automatically. Because the wiki is login protected, those collectors who don't leave the wiki logged in (ie log out after accessing it from their laptop) will only see a login screen. Many just close this rather than log on to review what was changed.

Solution

  1. On their laptops, collectors could just stay logged on. If someone else uses the laptop with their own windows login the wiki would not stay logged in.
  2. When news and backup brings up a Firefox window it means CCMDB.accdb was updated. It is the collectors' responsibility to make sure they review the changes, ie. they log on if needed.

Open questions?

  • yes we know that you have to be logged in before you see the change log and what is in it, but Deb stated to me that when she does news and backup that it has never opened Firefox or IE to the Wiki login screen.Trish Ostryzniuk 17:08, 2013 July 3 (CDT)
    • I have emailed Debbie to discuss. Ttenbergen 16:48, 2013 July 4 (CDT) and again 2013-07-15
      • if this is still a problem please post here... I will assume fixed unless I hear otherwise Ttenbergen 11:26, 2013 October 9 (CDT)

Legacy

Wiki login not redirecting to original link used to compound this problem but was solved.
