Pre acute living situation field

This field is currently being implemented, please check the instructions and put a discussion for anything that isn't clear.

Applicable for both ICU and Medicine

The pre_acute_living_situation field contains info about the living situation of the patient prior to the current hospitalization.

Collection Instruction

For each patient,

enter the option that most closely matches
if you know the situation but nothing on the list matches closely, enter 'other - known but not listed
if the situation is unknown, enter location missing/unknown

This field does not relate to ICU, unless this is something we now have to do. If ICU does not need to complete this section perhaps this information should be placed right on the field. (ICU leave blank). --LKolesar 10:18, 2016 April 15 (CDT)
- Yes, we will want this info from ICU as well. We have not been able to collect such things as homelessness before, and now we will be able to. Part of the reason to move to the new fields is to make ICU and Medicine collection more similar to make it easier and less error prone for collectors to move between the two. - This does not make sense. Just put not for ICU under the field to remind everyone it is just for medicine. Making more work for ICU collectors is not productive.There are many other differences between the 2 areas are we going to make them all the some? Lois

This was collected as part of Overstay_Predictor_Project_Collection_Instructions#.22From.22_Data previously and will be reported the same way going forward.

Some of the concepts were broken down further, such as homeless or institutionalized status, since these questions keep coming up.

The field is populated with options from the s_pre_acute_living_situation table.

For medicine this concept is related to Overstay "from" data.

For critical care this concept did not get collected prior to the 2016 Time and Place changes.
