We don't have a general code for Respiratory Failure. It is not a valid diagnosis and a more specific cause must be entered.
In ICD10 we only make distinction between acute and chronic; causes would be coded as Combined ICD10 codes.
- Respiratory failure (insufficiency) NOS, acute
- Respiratory failure (insufficiency), chronic
- Respiratory failure (insufficiency) NOS, not specified as acute or chronic
