When to consider surgery emergent

Surgery is considered emergent only if the patient

  • was admitted from OR or Recovery
AND
  • has "E1" in the E1, E2, E3 scheme for surgery documentation
    • includes difficult intubations performed in the OR (as long as listed as an "E1")
