RE: Transfers to other units or hospitals
* When you say discharged or dies under the above collection instructions do you mean regardless of what unit the gets transfered to? Are we looking at continuous stay in hospitals in winnipeg? For example if the patient is at the Conc and goes to STB do collectors need to follow up on whether the patient got a full course of Tamiflu at STB?

***If my patients are transferred out, and the Tamiflu hasn't been discontinued prior to transfer, than I assume they should be continued on Tamiflu. I consider these patients to have received a full treatment.[[User:Mlagadi|Mlagadi]] 09:28, 2018 January 11 (CST)

****if the patient is transferred to an area where we don't collect data, then consider this a lost to follow up and patient is considered to be treated.  Please in notes section, how many days of Tamiflu.   If the patient is transferred to an area where we are collecting then please attempt to follow up to see if the patient was continued on 5 days or more on drug.
***Answer from Trish about transfers to other units or hospitals (Jan 14,2018)
*We still need confirmation on what to do if they haven't recieved a full course of antivirals (as instructed above) prior to transfer to another unit.I have several of patients who aren't getting the full course prior to transfer and then on follow up it is stopped on the ward prior to 5 days once swabs are in. Trish, Julie can you answer the question and then remove the discussion. Thanks.
****If the patient is transferred to an area where we don't collect data, then consider this a lost to follow up and patient is considered to be treated.  Please in record in the notes section how many days of antivirals they recieved.
**there is a confusion in the area of what influenza treated means. Basically, do we need to check to see if the patient received a full course of Tamiflu/oseltamivir during a continuous stay in a hospital? The wording full course implies that we do need to know that information if possible.
****If the patient is transferred to an area where we are collecting then please attempt to follow up to see if the patient was continued on 5 days or more on an antiviral drug.If less than 5 days they are not considered influenza treated.
***One suggestion:  If they don't have a full course of antivirals maybe we should be counting the days in our pharm_flow so that we don't use the influenza treated code in the temp studies for those that don't get a full treatment? The way it is set up now you can't tell if they got a full course of antivirals or not. For now we should use the notes section to keep track of number of days on antiviral treatment. [[User:GHall|GHall]] 09:36, 2018 January 5 (CST)
