The pre_acute_living_situation field contains info about the living situation of the patient prior to the current hospitalization.

Collection Instruction

For each patient,

  • enter the following option that most closely matches:
    • Apartment
    • Assisted Living
    • Personal Care Home
    • Supportive Housing
    • House
    • Chronic Health Facility
    • Prison / Jail / Correctional Institution
    • legacy empty
    • Homeless
    • other - known but not listed - if you know the situation but nothing on the list matches closely
    • location missing/unknown - if the situation is unknown

Data Use

This was collected as part of Overstay_Predictor_Project_Collection_Instructions#.22From.22_Data previously and will be reported the same way going forward.

Some of the concepts were broken down further, such as homeless or institutionalized status, since these questions keep coming up.
