Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC) is a 252-bed facility that provides specialized inpatient mental health and acquired brain injury treatment and rehabilitation services to residents of Manitoba whose challenging needs cannot be met elsewhere in the provincial health care system.
Allan Garland checked with two physicians that work in area and decided that this should be treated as a Chronic Health Facility.

Code as follows:

- Would Previous Service be "psych" or "not applicable" for direct admits from Selkirk Mental Health Centre? Thanks!
- From the info in Previous Service I would think that if the pt was admitted there then Psych, but if an ambulatory pt there then Not Applicable. I will flag the question for Julie and Lisa as well to be sure we are on the same page. Ttenbergen 09:43, 2022 March 2 (CST)
- I would agree based on what is on the wiki previous service=psych, however should we treat this as a chronic health facility? or as selkirk_ward? to be consistent with all of our other facilities ie. admission from Pscyh ward at VGH,SBGH or HSC would be site_ward
- That would be about Boarding Loc, though, right, not Previous Service? Ttenbergen 11:26, 2022 March 2 (CST)
- Selkirk Hospital and Selkirk Mental Health Centre are two different facilities; so if selkirk ward was entered as a preadmit entry, then it would appear the patient originated from Selkirk Hospital not Selkirk Mental Health Centre; is this distinction required?
- yes you are right Pam, thanks for pointing that out, I incorrectly, think of them as the same facility. I still think psych should be the previous service.
- If the previous service entry is psych-could this be included in the above collection instructions? Thanks!
