Due to the way that ESRD and AKI are defined there are some scenarios in which a pt could actually have ESRD and then get an AKI. For example, someone can have a GFR <15 and not be on dialysis, and then get an AKI that puts them on dialysis. There are probably other scenarios.

So, we can not have a ''hard'' check for this, where a collector would not be able to send. Instead we will implement a "soft check" that gives a warning but allows the collector to click past. <!-- discussed by Allan and Tina 2021-01-12 -->

This check will always need to be consistent with Kidney Transplant Coding Guidelines.

Concepts

Limitations

Due to the way that ESRD and AKI are defined there are some scenarios in which a pt could actually have ESRD and then get an AKI. For example, someone can have a GFR <15 and not be on dialysis, and then get an AKI that puts them on dialysis. There are probably other scenarios.

So, we can not have a hard check for this, where a collector would not be able to send. Instead we will implement a "soft check" that gives a warning but allows the collector to click past.
