STB CICU Admissions start at Arrive DtTm
This page elaborates on some similarities and differences to the usual Definition of a Critical Care Program Admission.
- STB CICU/ICCS Cardiac Surgery patients will have an Service tmp entry that is effective when the pt actually arrives in the ICU from the OR. If a Cardiac Surgery patient is accepted back to the ICU after they have already been transferred to the ward (CR4), or is admitted from the ER, then the Service tmp entry is when the ICU has agreed to take them to the ICU, and they are considered a boarded pt.; the same rules apply as for any other boarded patient

Moved here from Service tmp entry to avoid duplication, will need validating and integrating into this page:

Background
This is on a page of its own because it is relevant to several other topics, and this way it can just be linked.
As of Change to start collection at accept rather than arrive time, we simplified the Definition of a Critical Care Program Admission to start at Service Accept DtTm. The local collector pointed out that these patients often spend a long time on cardiac wards where we don't collect while under the cardiac service. If we used the same definition for this population as for other ICUs this would all need to be collected as boarded time, and we would essentially start collecting on cardiac wards as well.
