{{discussion}}  There is no mention in this criteria as to how to ensure that the results are confirmed.  Trish, you need to put something about this in here.  Everyone is just looking (in EPR) at the swabs that are sent and processed in the local lab which Dr. Garland had said is just preliminary and may not be correct.  He said we should be waiting for the final paper result from Cadham or even phoning Cadham if the results are not back within 2 weeks.  Is this what we are supposed to do?  There are no instructions written in this article.  Maybe they are written somewhere else?--[[User:LKolesar|LKolesar]] 11:21, 2017 December 21 (CST)

  • I copied the following segment from Influenza in ICD10, It gives a different definition of Suspected Influenza:
Suspected influenza -- here the clinical team wrote believed that it was influenza and gave a “full course” of anti-influenza drug PLUS either: (a) no lab test was sent at all, or (b) the final Cadham test result was negative.
For influenza that this not severe, the usual course of oseltamivir (Tamiflu) is 5 days. But WHO and CDC recommend that in severe cases the drug should be continued until the infection is resolved or there is satisfactory clinical improvement.

Purpose and reporting

The Infection Prevention & Control releases summary report of influenza statistics every Influenza season and the Critical Care Directors would like to make sure that the reported statistics at ICU are consistent with the Critical Care & Medicine Database. The two programs agreed to collaborate by communicating the incidence of influenza as it occurs.
