Allan offered to help us out with the ICD10 documentation. Here are a few links to get started.
- The plan how we want to implement: Conversion from our old diagnosis schema to ICD10/CCI
- How to reconcile dx articles on the wiki: ICD10 diagnosis article reconciliation
- The most likely Dxs to need documentation: Diagnoses that likely have criteria
- A list of all ICD10 dxs: ICD10 Diagnosis List

Dialysis Coding
Template:Discussion (I am taking this off Allan's list for now because I think I know the answer... Ttenbergen 10:10, 2018 August 2 (CDT)
- How do we code chronic dialysis patients? These are the codes I have found: Chronic kidney disease (end-stage kidney disease, ESRD), Stage 5 ?, Renal dialysis care, including dialysis itself in comorbs? and Hemodialysis (intermittent) from CCI pick list as an admit? --Jvelasco 10:43, 2018 July 16 (CDT)
- If the patient has it, you would code Chronic kidney disease (end-stage kidney disease, ESRD), Stage 5 as Comorbid Diagnosis or Admit Diagnosis (depening which criteria it matches), whether there is dialysis for it or not (e.g. non-compliance or palliative or whatever).
- If the patient has had dialysis, you would code Renal dialysis care, including dialysis itself as Comorbid Diagnosis or Admit Diagnosis (depening which criteria it matches). i.e. if pt is here for a broken leg, dialysis is likely unrelated and therefore a comorbid; if pt is in for a blood stream infection that might be related to dialysis it could be an admit dx.
- You would code Hemodialysis (intermittent) like any other procedure code: if it happened while admitted to your unit, code it. If it happened and meets criteria as admit px, code it. If it does not meet the criteria as admit px, don't code it.
