Additional Info
- This code is used for complications or sequelae of COVID-19 (SARS-COV-2) that may have been caused by the acute infection, but manifest or continue after the active infection is gone.
- Example: To code "COVID-19–related multisystem inflammatory syndrome" link this code, Post COVID-19 condition, to Disorder of the immune system, NOS. If we see many more of these in the future, we will consider adopting the specific code for it U07.3
- Example: To code pulmonary fibrosis post-COVID19, combine this code with Interstitial lung disease, NOS
- If appropriate, code Post COVID-19 condition
- If no remaining issues means don't code anything
- Some physicians are (confusingly) writing things like "post-COVID pneumonia" or "post-COVID pneumonitis" to indicate ongoing, noninfectious pulmonary sequelae after the active COVID infection itself is gone. If indeed it is believed that the COVID infection has run its course and there is no ongoing active COVID infection, here's how to code such ongoing post-COVID problems:
