This is one field in CCMDB.mdb. It is two fields (survive/expire) and (autopsy) in Ed's database. It was implemented as a single field to prevent the combination survive/autopsy.
The data in this field will be collected in the Dispo field after the :Category: 2016 Time and Place changes. It will have several "died - ..." options.

The field name in Centralized_data.mdb and CCMDB.accdb is R_SurviveExpire.

As discussed in the Critical Care Review Group, our current collection practice is likely to miss whether a patient had an autopsy. When the patient dies we do not necessarily go back to their chart to find out if an autopsy happened.

If this data is unreliable we should not be collecting it in this way. The steering committee has accepted this recommendation, so we plan to stop collecting whether or not an Autopsy was done. (right Trish?)discussion

As of v1.7 CCMDB has by default sent "N" for autopsy. The field was left as is to not interfere with the PDAs/HanDBase. We can change this now.
* I will change the dropdown for Survive/Expire to only have two options, eliminating the autopsy split for expired. New optoins would be:
* Survive (no change)
* Expire (combines "Survive - Autopsy" and "Survive - No Autopsy"
Output would remain the same for import into Ed's program.
I'd need to make sure that pts who already have an Expired entry and who are currently in CCMDB.mdb would work right.
Any reasons not to implement this? Ttenbergen 10:08, 2 November 2010 (CDT)
