Hospices are palliative/end-of-life care facilities, relevant to the program as admit/discharge locations
If a patient is admitted from (ie Previous Location) or discharged to (ie Dispo) a hospice, code as the appropriate entry from the s_dispo table. If the palliative care location is a ward it is treated as a continuous admission and can also be used as a Pre-admit Inpatient Institution field.
palliation in or near hospital
Grace Hospice - separate facility
Grace Hospice is in a separate building from Grace hospital, and is not a ward. We collect this location as Grace Hospice.
STB Palliative Care - ward
STB Palliative Care is located in the STB_A8 ward of STB hospital. We track this as a "ward" in s_dispo table because, while it provides some services a hospice would, it is actually a proper ward.
HSC_D5 - ward
HSC_D5 ward provides palliative care when a hospice can't be accessed. It is not necessarily a palliative care location, though. We track this as a "ward" in s_dispo table because, while it provides some services a hospice would, it is actually a proper ward.
