- Prolonged (even as much as 10 days or so) systemic administration of adrenosteroids (e.g. prednisone, hydrocortisone, etc) in sufficient doses suppresses adrenal function. Manifestations of that suppression will not show up until either the exogenous steroids are stopped (or greatly reduced) or the patient becomes more physiologically stressed (needing more adrenosteroids than they're being administered). So technically this IS considered to be drug-induced adrenal suppression, but it should only be coded when -- due to a sequence of events as outlined -- it becomes clinically evideet.
