Additional Info

  • Nephrotic syndrome is a syndrome marked by a collection of symptoms due to kidney damage. It's primary feature is loss of large amounts of protein in the urine -- that can result in hypoalbuminemia, edema, hyperlipidemia, hypercoagulability, and others.
  • It can be caused by a large number of things, that includes but is not limited to glomerulonepritis, which is included in the various codes for Nephritic syndrome.
  • If the cause of the nephrotic syndrome is known, code it as well in combination with this code.
