Additional Info
- If the ICU space is merely borrowing the ICU space to dialyze a patient, the patient should not be entered into our database.
- If the patient is admitted under the care of the ICU Attending, then they SHOULD be entered into our database as an ICU admission.
- If admitted for an acute reason for dialysis (e.g. CHF, hyperkalemia), then code the reason(s), but do NOT use this code.
- If they're admitted to the service for dialysis and do NOT have an acute indication/need for it, then use this code.
- This is what the ICU program has advised.--TOstryzniuk 14:54, 27 April 2011 (CDT)
- Also may have to code appropriate TISS items for this.
