- Delerium is defined as: An acute confusional state that tends to wax and wane relatively rapidly (over hours or even shorter), and may be accompanied by agitation or psychomotor depression.
- Delerium must be distinguised from coma, which is a state in which the person appears asleep, with eyes closed and without voluntary movements, but cannot be awakened.
- This code is the one to use for hospital/ICU-acquired delerium.
