* Lisa updated the includes for this to add "necrotizing cavitary pneumonias". So, I added the "Pneumonia" category. I think this is something Julie occasionally reports on, so I want to make sure that coding this pneumonia in a more generic waste basket will not cause problems for her reporting. Emailed Julie and Lisa with link to this. | * Lisa updated the includes for this to add "necrotizing cavitary pneumonias". So, I added the "Pneumonia" category. ** Thanks. The investigator who had CAP request included this code too so I have added this code under pneumonia in my filtering. --JMojica 10:26, 2021 October 21 (CDT) | ** Thanks. *** Do you not use the s_ICD10_Categories table for this kind of filtering? I thought we implemented that so we can be consistent with these things over time. ****I usually provide the link of the ICD10 and/or send part of the s_ICD10, indicate my preliminary choices and ask them for comment if need to add or delete. that is safer in my end not to miss anything. --JMojica 17:18, 2022 February 4 (CST) }} | **** I usually provide the link of the ICD10 and/or send part of the s_ICD10, indicate my preliminary choices and ask them for comment if need to add or delete. that is safer in my end not to miss anything. --JMojica 17:18, 2022 February 4 (CST) | ||
***** I totally agree with providing them the full list with the proposed subset and soliciting feedback. But if they send something back, I think we should make sure to integrate that back into our built-in categorization. If you get something like that in the future, let me know and I can show you how to add the category to an ICD10 page. You already know that these categories are stored in the s_ICD10_Categories table, right? If all clear now, Julie, feel free to take out this discussion. I think all of it is now integrated. Additional Info
- Lung abscess is a type of liquefactive necrosis of the lung tissue and formation of cavities (more than 2 cm) containing necrotic debris or fluid caused by microbial infection.
- The formation of multiple small (< 2 cm) abscesses is occasionally referred to as necrotizing pneumonia or lung gangrene. Both lung abscess and necrotizing pneumonia are manifestations of a similar pathologic process.
- To code a necrotizing pneumonia, link this code with the code for the pneumonia:
