Change to coding locations for Decubitus Ulcers

From CCMDB Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Until 2025-07-01 we coded Decubitus Ulcer Diagnoses by stage, but not location. This page documents the transition to coding them with some locations included.

Transition collection instructions

  • Use the new decubitus diagnoses entered for any record, regardless of admission, discharge, and record start time
  • Existing decubitus diagnosis entries using the old codes will show up as blank lines; collectors will need to change the blank line to the new ICD 10 dx or an error will occur (reason for blank is that the old code is no longer available in the dropdown to list it, see Retiring an ICD10 or CCI Code)

Reports/Indicators

  • will there be a regular report for Andie, or is the change to ICU Acquired Ulcer Rate all that was needed? If so, here is the start, lets spin it out into its own page. If not, we can delete this discussion. Ttenbergen 23:31, 11 July 2025 (CDT)

Log

  • 2025-07-01 - email to Lisa and Julie re best way to roll these out re. Retiring an ICD10 or CCI Code; decided to keep the old codes "retired" so they can no longer be used, understanding that this will mean they show up blank in CCMDB.accdb. Lisa emailed collectors about this.
